Sports Conference in Collaboration with Delhi Cestoball Association – 2nd August 2024

Our foundation is deeply committed to promoting sports and outdoor activities among children, recognizing the urgent need to counter the adverse effects of excessive screen time. In today’s digital age, where children are increasingly engrossed in smartphones, tablets, and video games, there has been a noticeable decline in physical activity, social interaction, and overall well-being . To address this growing concern, we have made it our mission to introduce new sports and activities, encouraging children to engage in outdoor play while developing healthy lifestyle habits that will benefit them for years to come.

A key revelation from one of our recent Mega Health Check-up Camps reinforced the importance of this initiative. During the camp, we discovered that around 40 children were suffering from low vision, a worrying statistic that highlights the negative impact of prolonged screen exposure on children’s eyesight. This discovery has strengthened our resolve to implement structured programs aimed at motivating children to participate in physical activities tailored to their abilities. By providing access to adaptive sports and inclusive games, we seek to enhance their coordination, self-confidence, and overall health, while simultaneously reducing their dependency on digital screens.

We can set up this initiative at our own cost or at the cost of our association and involve local rights in it. This approach will create greater awareness among people, as 10,000 players are expected to participate. Therefore, it is crucial for us to establish a strong local presence in our area. To achieve this, we have already taken the initial steps with a few organizations. In Delhi, we have access to a renowned park, and we are receiving calls regarding this initiative through DDA (Delhi Development Authority). When DDA takes the initiative , it sends a message to the local community, informing them that this sport has been implemented in a major DDA park. This not only lends credibility to the sport but also ensures that residents become aware of it, regardless of whether they actively participate. Over time, as activity in the park increases, local players, sports enthusiasts, and individuals engaged in other games will take an interest and begin participating.

Beyond the obvious physical benefits of sports, participation in games and athletic activities also nurtures important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and resilience. Engaging in structured sports programs helps children build social connections, enhance communication skills, and learn to work towards common goals—skills that are essential for personal and professional success. Additionally, as these students and players progress, it is vital that they receive sponsorships and financial support at later stages when they begin competing in larger events. Hence, we should focus on expanding this initiative beyond the local level, ensuring that the sport gains wider recognition and long-term sustainability.

Our ultimate goal is to bring about a positive transformation in children's lives by shifting their focus from passive screen consumption to active participation in sports and outdoor play. Through consistent efforts, strong community partnerships, and parental involvement , we envision a future where children grow up healthier, happier, and more connected to their surroundings. By instilling the values of active living and sportsmanship, we can create a movement that champions physical activity, ensuring that future generations are strong, confident, and ready to embrace life’s opportunities with enthusiasm and determination.
